Hendrick, an architecture and design firm based in Georgia, is proud to announce that principal Chris Heard has been selected as the Honoree at IIDA’s 2023 Leaders Breakfast. The program honors those individuals who represent both the legacy and future of design.

Heard brings more than 35 years of design experience in virtually all market segments. His project experience ranges from high-end corporate office to institutional facilities. He has been an integral member of the Hendrick team for 25-plus years, becoming a principal of the firm in 2001 and Managing Principal/Owner in 2008. Chris is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) since 2015.

When we asked Chris what his advice was for young designers and architects today, he simply stated, “patience.” When it comes to morality, patience is a quiet trait. It is not an outward or easily observed one, but for Chris, it is central to who he is as a person.

“The pace of media today is so immediate that people expect things to happen overnight. But building a career takes time. It’s a path to gaining experience and learning how to communicate and connect. It literally took me 30-plus years to get here,” Chris said. “Hard work and patience rewarded me with becoming a partner in the firm.”

Having patience taught Chris to understand his value, which in time, he was rewarded for in his career.

“It’s going to be frustrating at times, but that’s just the nature of living,” he said. “Have respect for the process and the work, and just relax and enjoy the journey. It will make you a more well-rounded person.”
